Enrolled Agents are federally licensed directly by the IRS and specialize in IRS tax relief.
Per the IRS:
An enrolled agent is a person who has earned the privilege of representing taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service by either passing a three-part comprehensive IRS test covering individual and business tax returns, or through experience as a former IRS employee. Enrolled agent status is the highest credential the IRS awards. Individuals who obtain this elite status must adhere to ethical standards and complete 72 hours of continuing education courses every three years.
Enrolled agents, like attorneys and certified public accountants (CPAs), have unlimited practice rights. This means they are unrestricted as to which taxpayers they can represent, what types of tax matters they can handle, and which IRS offices they can represent clients before.”

(Did you know? The Enrolled Agent license dates back to 1884 when, after questionable claims had been presented for Civil War losses, Congress acted to regulate persons who represented citizens in their dealings with the U.S. Treasury Department.)
All of Landmark Tax Group’s tax professionals are:
– Enrolled Agents (EAs) licensed directly by the IRS
– Tax Resolution Specialists
– Former Senior IRS Collection Officers
Attorneys and CPAs, who are both licensed only at the State level, are trained to handle legal matters and accounting matters, respectively, and may not choose to specialize in taxation. Most attorneys and CPAs are not trained in tax controversy (aka tax relief) matters and do not have experience working with the IRS and State taxing authorities (such as the California Franchise Tax Board). Enrolled Agents are the only tax professionals licensed directly by the IRS and are specifically credentialed to resolve IRS tax disputes. To remain an Enrolled Agent requires a continuing professional education requirement focused entirely on federal taxation. What sets Enrolled Agents apart is that 100% of their annual continuing professional education must relate to federal tax issues; no other professional bears the burden of continuously demonstrating their competence to the IRS.
Because of their federal license, Enrolled Agents are authorized by the IRS to represent individual and business taxpayers in all 50 States and U.S. Territories. Furthermore, Enrolled Agents have unlimited practice rights and can represent individual and business taxpayers at all IRS levels including Collection, Audit, and Appeals. As licensed Enrolled Agents and former IRS Collectors, Landmark Tax Group knows how the IRS works and how to protect you and your assets.
In February 2015, the IRS created an official search directory of all licensed tax professionals that are in good standing with the IRS. Taxpayers can verify that a tax professional is licensed and in good standing by conducting a search using the last name of the tax professional. To verify Landmark Tax Group, simply search for Landmark Tax Group founder and president “Michael Raanan”.
